Selected for Fukushima Prefecture's "Subsidy for Promotion of Regional Reconstruction and Development of Practical Application. Aiming to provide services to the space industry by building a development support platform.

  • News

Innovative Space Carrier Inc. ISC’s vision is “to make the world a place where people and cargo can be delivered every day, even in space. (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Kojiro Hatada, hereinafter referred to as “ISC”) is a start-up company that aims to realize a transportation system that enables space reusable.

We are pleased to announce that we have been selected for the “FY2025 Subsidy for Promotion of Practical Application Development for Regional Reconstruction” by Fukushima Prefecture.

Also collaborated with Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture. Contributing to industrial reconstruction in the Hamadori region

In order to accelerate industrial recovery in 15 cities, towns, and villages in the Hamadori region and other areas, Fukushima Prefecture provides subsidies for practical development related to the priority fields of the Fukushima Innovation Coast Initiative.

Adoption outline
Implementing agency: Industrial Promotion Division, Commerce, Industry and Labor Department, Fukushima Prefecture
Subsidy project name: “Subsidy for Promotion of Practical Application Development for Regional Reconstruction” in FY2025
Adopted project plan name: Construction of a rocket development support platform
Implementation site: ISC Fukushima Branch Office (in Odaka Pioneer Village, 1-87 Honmachi, Odaka-ku, Minamisoma City)
Detailed information: Prefecture official Prefecture’s official website

ISC has been actively promoting cooperation with the local community, such as by concluding a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Minamisoma City and establishing a branch office in Fukushima.

Building a development support platform for rocket landing technology

ISC is developing reusable rockets with the aim of making them commercially viable. The core of this development is guidance and control technology to ensure safe and highly accurate landing at the target site.

To achieve this, complex algorithms and enormous amounts of arithmetic processing are required, and an advanced computing environment is indispensable. At the same time, multilayered technical verification is required, including design verification through simulation, performance evaluation of control system components, and flight tests using actual aircraft.

Therefore, ISC is working to establish a verification platform for guidance and control algorithms by creating an environment that enables rapid evaluation of technologies in the fast-evolving computer industry.

This will enable us to establish a system that can be used for pre-flight simulations, operation checks during the ascent phase of disposable rockets, and component selection in the early stages of development, as well as to establish a system that integrates simulator, hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS), and flight test facilities for rapid verification under real-world conditions. In addition, by linking simulators, HILS (Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation), and flight test facilities, we will establish a system that enables the integration of simulation results into hardware and prompt verification under real-world conditions.

Development System for Practical Use

Manufactured with “Made in Hamadori” technology. Aiming to provide services and contribute to the development of the entire space industry

Based on the “Subsidy for Promotion of Regional Reconstruction and Development of Practical Application,” which was also adopted this time, ISC will develop and manufacture a development environment for simulators, stand-alone test equipment, and integrated test equipment (avionics verification, etc.) in the Hamadori region. In particular, in the construction of a test bed (environment for a series of demonstration tests) to promote this initiative, we expect to collaborate with the Hamadori region, which has a wide range of manufacturing industries, by taking advantage of the subsidy.

Based on the utilization of subsidies and collaboration with the manufacturing industry in the Hamadori region, we aim to develop the rocket development industry as an industrial base by enabling higher precision and higher speed in the mid- to long-term, and by providing and selling the technology to other companies, mainly in the rocket industry.

Flight test of a rocket-type drone is scheduled for this summer in Minamisoma City.

As part of this initiative, a “flight test using a rocket-type drone” is scheduled to be conducted this summer to verify the guidance control algorithm. The test is expected to be conducted at the “Fukushima Robot Test Field” in Minamisoma City.

ISC will continue to accelerate research and development in Fukushima Prefecture and pioneer the future of the space industry together with the local community.
